Bible Studies in Lansing
There is no greater joy than serving the Lord, and it always
seems that no matter how much we want to be a blessing we are always blessed. Sabbath, April 9th, we were invited to the Lansing church to join them for an outreach Sabbath. After a session of prayer and basic training, 10 of us went to our designated territory. What a joy it was to ask the survey questions and see hearts softened, desiring to know what the Bible has to say about the days we are living in!
Here are just a couple of the experiences we had:
We started running through the survey, when he noticed the DVD in my hand was endorsed by Amazing Facts. “Are you Seventh-day Adventist? “He asked. I confirmed that we are Seventh Day Adventist. He told me that he used to attend the Lansing SDA Church years ago. I asked him why he didn’t attend anymore. He said his job at the hospital required him to work on many Sabbaths and as a result he just faded out of the church. We talked about the times we are living in, he knows and understands the prophecies. We encouraged him to come to the upcoming series, to come back to church. We are still continuing to pray for him that he will take the opportunity given him to give his life to God and follow His Word. What if? What if we hadn’t gone to his door?
In working for perishing souls, you have the companionship of angels. Thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand angels are waiting to co-operate with members of our churches in communicating the light that God has generously given, that a people may be prepared for the coming of Christ.--Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 129. {ChS 259.1}
In this work all the angels of heaven are ready to co-operate. All the resources of heaven are at the command of those who are seeking to save the lost. Angels will help you to reach the most careless and the most hardened. And when one is brought back to God, all heaven is made glad; seraphs and cherubs touch their golden harps, and sing praises to God and the Lamb for their mercy and loving-kindness to the children of men.--Christ's Object Lessons, p. 197. {ChS 259.2}
We started down our second street; the first door we knocked on was an adult care home. A young lady came to the door. We asked her the survey questions about the condition of our world today and if she would be interested in learning what the Bible has to say about the days we are living in. She enthusiastically affirmed that she would like to learn more. We loaned her the Final Events DVD and set up a time to study the Bible with her.
All who engage in ministry are God's helping hand. They are coworkers with the angels; rather, they are the human agencies through whom the angels accomplish their mission. Angels speak through their voices, and work by their hands. And the human workers, co-operating with heavenly agencies, have the benefit of their education and experience.--Education, p. 271. {ChS 261.1}
How about you? Are you willing to allow God to use you to reach those around you?
